Summary of Physical Therapist
Job Description:
The Physical Therapy Assistant will be responsible for providing outpatient physical therapy services for Odom Rehab in an ethical and professional manner. Services will be provided in accordance with each specific state’s guidelines. The employee shall also perform any other duties that are customarily performed by an employee in a similar position, and any other/unrelated duties that may be assigned by Odom Rehab from time to time.
Functions
- Treat patients in accordance with state guidelines, focusing on the root causes of dysfunction that directly translate to impairments in daily function.
- Follow appropriate Plans of Care for patients; provide input related to progress to keep goals relevant.
- Deliver treatment to patients, including manual therapy, educating and performing therapeutic exercises, training of proper techniques for movement and body mechanics, developing balance systems, and addressing pain to reach goals.
- Educate patients on best ways to self‑manage conditions; educate family on best ways to help the patient.
- Assess appropriate adaptive equipment, including canes, walkers, orthotics, etc.
- Develop a discharge plan for patients once physical therapy is completed.
- Document patients’ treatment daily based on established and accepted practice guidelines.
- Submit appropriate charges daily for Physical Therapy services provided.
- Communicate on a regular basis with the physician and medical staff regarding patients’ status or changes in status.
- Assist in developing and updating ODOM REHAB treatment protocols as needed.
- Actively participate in ODOM REHAB staff meetings.
- Track and complete Continuing Education Credits and renewal steps necessary to keep current on Physical Therapy licensure.

Certification Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- One (1) year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant (preferred).
- Recent/previous work experience in a primary health care setting (preferred).
Additional Qualifications:
- Ability to follow written and oral directions.
- Computer skills required.
- Demonstrates a high level of personal and professional accountability and responsibility.
