The Regulatory Officer – Digital role sits within the WEEE Producer Responsibility team in Environmental Markets and Regulation.
This role suits someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with data and improving digital processes. You will support the WEEE Product Manager and regulatory team by using tools such as Power Apps, Power BI and Excel to streamline workflows, manage and analyse large datasets, and strengthen our ability to identify non-compliance and ensure a fair operating environment.
As a WEEE Regulatory Officer (Digital), you will:
- Use advanced Excel (including formulas, Power Query and macros) to manage, cleanse and interrogate complex data.
- Support the development and improvement of digital tools used across the regime, including SharePoint and Power Platform applications.
- Work closely with the WEEE Product Manager to test system changes, capture user requirements and support digital continuous improvement.
- Contribute to process and workflow improvements, ensuring digital activities meet data governance and regulatory standards.
- Work with internal and external customers to resolve data issues and communicate clear technical and regulatory guidance.
- Support financial tasks, including monitoring spend and assisting with procurement activities.
The team
The WEEE Producer Responsibility team is a supportive, inclusive and dispersed national team within Environmental Markets and Regulation. We regulate producers, schemes and AATFs to ensure compliance with the WEEE Regulations, contributing to improved recycling outcomes and reducing illegal activity. We work collaboratively to maintain data integrity, ensure a fair operating environment and support continual improvements to digital systems and regulatory processes.
Experience/skills Required
We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate:
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and quality‑check complex datasets.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, Power Query and data transformation.
- Experience using Power BI and/or Power Platform apps, or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain regulatory or digital issues clearly.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Good planning and time‑management skills, able to balance competing deadlines.
- Attention to detail and an understanding of good data management practice.
- Enthusiasm for process improvement, problem‑solving and collaborative working.
- Ability to manage digital user queries and contribute to system improvements.
- Training will be provided for all Environment Agency tools and processes.
