For our client in Wädenswil, we are looking for a motivated
Project Lead in Medicinal Chemistry (100%)At our client, they drive drug discovery through cutting‑edge science and advanced technologies to develop innovative therapies. As they continue to expand their research and development activities in Wädenswil, they are seeking to strengthen their scientific team to support sustainable growth and innovation. For this reason, they are looking for an organic chemist to join their interdisciplinary R&D team. The role combines hands‑on synthesis work in the laboratory with scientific documentation and the use of computational tools as an important pillar of medicinal chemistry research, contributing to the development of highly selective and highly potent new compounds for personalized cancer therapy.
- Using MOE (Molecular Operating Environment) as computational tools for virtual compound library screening to identify new scaffolds and new chemical structures
- Using MOE as tool to support the research and development of new target molecules
- Using molecular dynamics MD for modeling to support the research
- Plan and conduct scientific experiments in the lab to create and refine target molecules
- Follow health and safety guidelines and safe working practices
- Undertake data analysis to assess the results of experiments and the characteristics of the synthesized molecules
- Ensure that structure and purity of the new compounds are correct
- Collaborate closely with our biologist, analytical chemist, international external cooperation partners and research teams to contribute towards the company’s pipeline projects
- Contribute to the critical evaluation and selection of new targets
- Publish science in high quality journals and publications
- Give presentations on projects both at internal meetings and externally at conferences
- PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry is required
- Several years of experience using computational tools for virtual compound library screening in academia or industry, in the field of small molecules
- Several years of experience with MOE and molecular dynamics in drug discovery
- Experience in project management or project leadership is an advantage
- Understanding of related scientific disciplines that are relevant to drug discovery and early development such as target validation, pharmacology, DMPK, ADME and structural biology
- Records of publication in scientific reviewed journals or patents
- State of the art organic synthesis knowledge, purification and analytical characterization including HPLC, MS and NMR
- Culturally sensitive, enjoy working in international teams and have a desire and willingness to expand the area of expertise
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English
