Part-time Paid On-Call Firefighter & EMTsCLASSIFICATION: Part-time Paid On-Call Volunteer Firefighter & Part-time Paid On-Call Volunteer EMTs
These are compensated positions according to the compensation schedule below.
STATUS: Unclassified, appointed position by the Director of Public Safety.
LOCATION: Fire Station #1 (343 College St.)
Fire Station #2 (338 Weatherstone Drive)
WORK DAYS/HOURS: On-call basis, occasional scheduled shifts at a Fire Station.
COMPENSATION:
- Firefighter Entry-Level / EMT $17.01 per hour
- Firefighter I / EMT - Intermediate $21.07 per hour
- Firefighter II / EMT - Paramedic $24.68 per hour
BENEFITS: Emergency Medical Technicians may contribute to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).

Job Summary:Firefighter Responsibilities: Respond to alarms, operate pumps, handle hoses, enter structures, perform rescues, maintain equipment, and provide first aid at a minimum First Responder level. May serve as Acting Lieutenant and attend training.
EMT Responsibilities: Provide emergency medical care, operate EMS vehicles, assist in patient care, complete reports, and maintain equipment. Follow directives from the Paramedic in charge.
Minimum Qualifications:- At least 18 years old
- Valid Ohio driver's license and insurable driving record
- Complete physical agility, psychological, physical, and drug tests
- Complete Firefighter I course within one year of appointment (Firefighter role)
- Complete Basic Emergency Medical course within one year of appointment (EMT role)
Candidates living near fire stations or within the city/township limits who can respond promptly. Candidates with current Ohio certifications in fire & EMS are especially encouraged.
Training:The City provides all necessary training. Candidates must maintain at least 60% attendance in departmental trainings.
