Fire Systems Inspector – Akron, OH

Koorsen Fire and Security is seeking a Fire Systems Inspector to join our best‑of‑the‑best team. The role involves inspecting and testing fire alarm and sprinkler systems to ensure proper functionality and documenting any deficiencies.

Base Pay Range

$21.00/hr – $24.00/hr (based on skills and experience)

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test fire alarm & sprinkler systems and their components to ensure proper functionality.
  • Document any deficiencies and ensure customers understand the functionality of their system.
  • Interact with customers, vendors, and co‑workers professionally.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and follow all safety regulations and practices.
  • Maintain open‑mind willingness for continual learning.
  • Follow all Koorsen policies, procedures, and core values.
  • Perform any other duties deemed appropriate by management.
Required
  • Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience with electronic testing devices.
  • Pass drug and background screenings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to meet state licensing requirements and/or vendor certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
  • Fire life safety, low voltage, or security experience.
  • Fire alarm manufacturer’s certifications.
  • Proficiency working in Microsoft Suite:
    Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of IT functionality.
  • NICET certification.
Physical Demands
  • Able to safely and effectively use general hand and power tools.
  • Lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs.; push and pull more significantly than 75 lbs.
  • Climb a ladder to a height of at least 12 feet or use a man lift; reach heights exceeding 40 feet.
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions, temperature changes, and loud noises.
  • Perform duties that require talking or hearing; frequently sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Hiring Process (Beyond an Interview)
  • New hires must complete the I‑9 Verification form within three days and verify employment eligibility via E‑Verify.
  • All positions require background checks with criminal courts, state and county repositories, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • A test for evidence of substance abuse by urinalysis is required if this application results in an offer of employment.
