Position Overview
Do you have experience with mental health issues and enjoy helping others? Become a host at the Skadi drop‑in center in Wageningen.
ScheduleFixed walk‑in time: either Monday 2:00 PM–4:00 PM or Wednesday 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Optional participation at other times.
What you will doYou open the revolving door, make coffee and tea, greet visitors and explain the walk‑in sessions. You answer simple questions about Skadi and refer more complex questions to paid staff. You listen to conversations and contribute where appropriate. You enforce house rules, track visitor numbers and give feedback to staff. After the session you tidy the space. Together with another host you ensure a pleasant walk‑in experience.
Qualificationsand qualities
- Have personally experienced a disruptive event and/or live with mental diversity.
- Hospitable and open.
- Good listener.
- Respectful of different life stories and backgrounds.
- Can reflect on own issues from a distance.
- Familiar with peer support.
- Share the values of restoration, equality and reciprocity.
- No specific training required; ability to create a safe, welcoming atmosphere.
A meaningful volunteer role in a warm and engaged community, with opportunities to be yourself, develop ideas and contribute to a safe space for recovery.
