Provides consultation and support to school teams for students with autism. Implements and models Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, supports IEP development, and promotes inclusive, evidence‑based practices. Collaborates with staff and families, conducts training, and assists with behavioral intervention planning and implementation.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. (The minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian, or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.)
Preferred Qualifications: Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.

Experience:
Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
Desired Knowledge: Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings; exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions; maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines; grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively; work effectively with others.
If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit toward meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
Upon hire you will need to have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.
Benefits- Compensation: 12‑month teachers shall be compensated for the applicable Bargaining Unit 05 12‑month salary schedule for working a 12‑month work year.

The State contributes to a retirement plan for eligible employees. - Tax Shelter Annuity (TSA):
Eligible Department employees may participate in a tax shelter annuity program. - Deferred Compensation:
The State offers employees a tax‑deferred (sheltered) retirement investment program. - Temporary Disability Insurance:
Qualified employees may be eligible to receive benefits for a disability caused by a non‑work related injury or illness. - Social Security:
As an employer, the State also contributes to an employee's social security account. - Workers' Compensation:
Benefits covering medical expenses and partial wage support may be available for employees injured while on the job. - Union & Collective Bargaining:
Employees can join the union for collective bargaining with the State and employee representation. 12‑Month Teachers are represented by the Hawaii State Teachers Association.

PaydayNew employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
