Kilohana Facility Enhancement:
Request for Proposal
Girl Scouts of Hawaiʻi seeks qualified, licensed contractors to perform a series of facility repairs and improvements at Camp Kilohana. The scope of work includes fencing repairs, lodge upgrades, masonry repairs, composting toilet installation, and outdoor cooking area enhancements. The goal is to maintain safety, functionality, and usability for campers and staff while improving long‑term durability of the facilities.

As soon as possible, with rolling consideration when at least 3 proposals are received
- Perimeter Fencing Repairs
- Inspect existing perimeter fencing and identify damaged or failing sections.
- Replace, reinforce, or repair fencing and posts as needed.
- Ensure fencing is safe, secure, and aligned with site security needs.
- Baldwin Lodge – Window Replacement
- Remove existing windows.
- Provide and install new, energy‑efficient windows.
- Ensure weatherproofing, caulking, and finishing match building standards.
- Pohaku Lodge – Interior Improvements
- Bunk Beds:
Supply and install durable bunk beds meeting safety standards. - Storage/Dressing Area:
Design and construct built‑in storage and/or dressing area with shelving, lockers, or cabinetry. - Entry Door Replacement:
Remove existing entry door and frame; install new, durable, secure exterior door and screened door with hardware.
- Bunk Beds:
- Outdoor Grills and Firepit Repairs
- Inspect outdoor grills and masonry firepits.
- Repair or replace damaged masonry, ensuring safety and long‑term durability.
- Confirm firepits/grills meet fire safety standards.
- Outdoor Grill Areas – Enhancements
- Construct permanent prep tables (durable, weather‑resistant surface).
- Install seating (benches or tables) adjacent to grill areas.
- Ensure structures are securely anchored and designed for outdoor use.
- Composting Toilets – Installation
- Supply and install 2 composting toilet units, suitable for campground use.
- Construct any necessary enclosures, foundations, or ventilation systems.
- Ensure toilets are installed in compliance with state and county health/environmental codes.
- Provide training materials and manuals for maintenance and operation.
- Ensure accessibility and durability for long‑term outdoor use.
- All work must comply with applicable building, health, and fire codes.
- Contractor must obtain and pay for all necessary permits.
- Site must remain safe and usable during construction.
- All waste materials must be removed and disposed of properly.
- Hold appropriate contractor’s license(s) for building, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and related work in the State of Hawaiʻi (or relevant jurisdiction).
- Demonstrate successful completion of at least three comparable projects.
- Carry appropriate insurance (general liability, workers’ compensation).
- Provide three (3) references.
- Copies of applicable licenses.
- Approach to completing the listed scope of work.
- Specifications for composting toilet models (manufacturer, warranty, expected lifespan) – if included in proposal.
- Preliminary project schedule and timeline.
- Itemized cost estimate (labor, materials, permits, equipment).
- Warranty information on materials and workmanship.
- References.
- Relevant experience and qualifications (25%)
