University of Calgary Faculty of Nursing requests Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach undergraduate BScN clinical courses during Fall and Winter 2026‑2027. Candidates should have nursing practice experience in rural long‑term care, community settings, and prior teaching experience. Specify the course(s) and term(s) you would like to be considered for in your application.
Fall Semester (September 1 – December 4, 2026)- Term 3 – NRSG 351 (Health Promotion) September 1 – October 16, 2026 (

Off‑campus Thursday & Friday; On‑site lab Tuesday 0900‑1200) - Term 3 – NRSG 350 (Care of the Aging Adult) October 19 – December 4, 2026 (

Practice education takes place both on and off campus. Please indicate in the cover letter if you are available for the lab, clinical, or both. Mileage for instructor travel may be covered.
Successful applicants are required to be available throughout the entire period(s) specified.
Sessional Instructors receive orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development. Remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Please refer to the Faculty Association website for further employment conditions and remuneration details.
Teaching Responsibilities- Facilitate onsite and remote low‑ to mid‑fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Learning Centre
- Work effectively with small groups of students on‑campus or in off‑campus acute care, chronic care, long‑term care, or community settings
- Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance
- Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off‑campus
- Seek excellence in teaching by applying various teaching strategies and collaborating with colleagues
- Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence‑informed practice
Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Candidates with BN/BScN preparation are considered.
Applied Experience- Rural and Indigenous health practice experience related to semester focus
- Experience engaging respectfully with Indigenous Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers
- Broad experience across a variety of areas
- Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring, and supervision of students
- Application of adult teaching/learning principles
- Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks for assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation
- Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals
- Teamwork and leadership skills
- Evaluation and promotion of student problem solving and critical thinking
- Ability to critique student performance and provide meaningful feedback
- Prioritizing and meeting competing demands of varied settings
- Computer skills in word processing, email, and internet access
