Location: Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
Shifts: 11.25-hour shifts
Contract Duration: 8 weeks (with potential for extension)
Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Tahir Medix Staffing is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the Acute Medical Unit 2B at Yarmouth Regional Hospital
. This role involves providing patient-centered care for individuals with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes, while collaborating closely with RNs and other healthcare team members.
- Yarmouth Regional Hospital provides comprehensive acute care services in southwestern Nova Scotia.
- The Acute Medical Unit 2B serves a diverse patient population, including those with complex medical needs and chronic conditions.
- Provide nursing care within the LPN scope of practice for patients with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes.
- Deliver nursing interventions under RN supervision when patient conditions become more complex or unpredictable.
- Administer medications and perform interventions approved for LPNs within the designated practice area
. - Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Comply with documentation processes at Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) sites
. - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic and patient-centered care
.
- IV initiation and IV medication administration are now entry-level competencies in the LPN curriculum.
- These skills are not practiced in all units
—LPNs must confirm approval with the Charge Nurse before performing these procedures. - Certain medications may be restricted to RN administration only.
- Active LPN License in Nova Scotia
- Minimum one year of recent experience in an acute medical unit or similar setting
- Mandatory certification: BLS
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work within a team environment
- Experience in acute care or chronic illness management is an asset
