About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will work within the Quality Assurance/Quality Control department to optimize mix design and raw material costs, implement and manage quality procedures and policies, manage product development, and provide assistance to customers and sales representatives. You will meet divisional quality goals, reduce quality incidents and costs, enhance customer service, and lead a team of QA/QC technicians in the field.
WhatYou'll Accomplish
- Administer, develop, implement, and standardize quality plans and processes for the Greater Edmonton / Northern Alberta Area in collaboration with General Managers.
- Conduct quality audits and adhere to the WCan Quality Control Manual.
- Lead and develop the regional Quality Assurance team.
- Assess concrete mix designs for quality objectives, improve cement efficiencies, and reduce total mix costs through field data review and technical software.
- Design laboratory experiments to quantify desired properties of materials for new product development in niche markets.
- Represent the company in technical associations throughout Alberta.
- Work with specification writers, engineering consultants, architects, government agencies, and customers to facilitate communication and promote Amrize products and services.
- Maintain a working relationship with the Cement Division regarding the quality of concrete materials and overall promotion of concrete.
- Collaborate with the concrete & aggregate QA and sales departments to pre‑qualify construction materials, clarify and modify specifications, and assist customers with bids on special projects.
- Review, prepare, and submit mix designs for various projects as required.
- Utilize CSA A23, A283, A3000, provincial, transportation, city specifications/codes of practice for concrete, aggregates, and ASTM standards for compliance and review.
- Ensure safety is the priority; lead safety initiatives, enforce Amrize safety standards, engage employees, and promote a culture of safety.
- Education
:
Bachelor's Degree or Professional Technologist Designation in Engineering or a related field. - Experience
: 3–5 years in a concrete or related industry. - Certifications
:
Registered as a P. Eng. or P.Tech. ACI & CSA Concrete Testing Certification is an asset. - Technical Skills
:
Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, SAP. - Travel
: 10% - Technically sound in ready mix, concrete, cement, and aggregates.
