Dental Office Assistant (Business Assistant)
Wake Forest Dental Arts is seeking a Business Assistant to support our front office and provide excellent patient care.
Responsibilities- Greet and welcome patients to create a great first impression
- Manage front‑office duties including answering phones, checking office mail and email, and communicating with patients and insurance companies
- Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and records
- Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers
- File patient insurance claims, verify benefits, and follow up on outstanding claims and explanations of coverage
- Post insurance and patient payments and process accounts receivables
- Review treatment‑plan fees and payment options with patients
- Partner with providers and the team to implement Heartland Dental systems to optimize office potential

- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- The position requires access to PHI. Regular HIPAA training will be required, and the individual must protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.
- At least 1 year in a dental or medical setting
- At least 1 year in insurance billing and accounts receivable
- Experience with Dentrix or other dental software
- Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed
- Availability to attend virtual or in‑person training sessions periodically during the year
- All new hires in dental office positions must complete a tuberculosis (TB) test prior to starting employment. Not applicable in FL & TN.
