Wake Preparatory Academy is now accepting applications for History Teachers for the school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design and implement engaging and educational lesson plans that cover historical events, themes, and concepts.
- Align lesson plans with state and national history standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Develop instructional materials, including presentations, worksheets, and multimedia resources.
- Deliver history lessons using a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, group work, and hands-on activities.
- Use primary and secondary sources, historical documents, and artifacts to enrich the learning experience.
- Encourage critical thinking and analysis by prompting students to evaluate historical events and perspectives.
- Create and administer assessments, including tests, quizzes, essays, and projects, to measure student understanding and progress.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
- Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral issues and promote a productive learning atmosphere.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with varying levels of prior knowledge and special educational needs.
- Provide additional support and resources to students who may need extra help understanding historical concepts.
- Use engaging teaching techniques to make history relevant and interesting to students.
- Incorporate current events and contemporary issues to connect historical content with students' lives.
- Encourage student participation through discussions, debates, and collaborative projects.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with historical scholarship, educational strategies, and teaching technologies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of the history curriculum.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports, grades, and documentation in a timely manner.
- Manage classroom resources and ensure their proper use and maintenance.
- Participate in school meetings, committees, and extracurricular activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
