Position Summary:

The Youth Director is tasked with directing the catechetical/faith formation of young people from 6th grade to Confirmation age, as well as the formation of catechists, parents, and volunteers. Will collaborate with the Pastor to help spark initiative in parishioners, adults and youth, supporting them in leadership roles in an expanding series of youth evangelization opportunities, to create a vibrant parish youth ministry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee all middle and high school sacramental preparation.
  • Recruit, train, and support an adequate pool of volunteers for middle and high school formation.
  • Organize regular social/seasonal/special events with youth.
  • Communicate with parents and staff on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate service opportunities for confirmation candidates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree. Studies need to include formal Catholic catechetical/theological education for at least one year.
  • 4 years of work experience related to Catholic Faith Formation and parish environment.
  • Must have experience and basic understanding of the various youth evangelization programs available to Catholic parishes, both adult and peer led.
  • Active member, in good standing, of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Knowledge of Christian apologetics tailored to young people.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and catechists.
  • Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
  • Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual is a plus, though not required.
