Trimmer

Overview

Trimmer (All Levels) roles at The Townsend Company, LLC involve maintaining trees for public safety under supervision. Responsibilities include pruning, cutting, removing, and caring for trees while working near traffic, falling limbs, and energized power lines. This is an entry-level to senior position within the Trimmer series, with on-the-job training and day-to-day directions provided.

• Perform tree pruning, removal, brush chipping, and stump grinding
• Use climbing hooks, belts, ropes, and ladders
• Operate and service equipment and tools (hydraulic tools, power tools, buckets, chippers, sprayers)
• Cut away dead and excess branches from trees
• Spray to treat diseased or unhealthy trees, including mixing chemicals and calibrating spray equipment
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain attention to detail

Note: Duties may vary by class level (D/4th, C/3rd, B/2nd, A/1st) with progressively increased responsibilities and leadership requirements.

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company requirements
• May be required to pass a DOT physical examination to obtain the appropriate CDL
• Knowledge of essential job functions, safety precautions, and attention to detail
• Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to problem solve and meet physical requirements of the position
• Pass drug and alcohol screens as required by company policy and DOT regulations if applicable
• 18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is required
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

• Experience with tree care/maintenance programs and operation of stump grinders, chippers, chipper trucks, bucket trucks, and other tree-related equipment
