Senior Systems Administrator
As a Senior Systems Administrator for GEI you will serve as the technical and subject‑matter expert in maintaining the network and server infrastructure. You must be able to establish, maintain and increase user satisfaction through professional, courteous and thoughtful organizational support.
Core Responsibilities- Provide administration for all aspects of network operations including servers, Active Directory, group policy, MS 365, security, cloud services, firewalls, VPN, routing, switching, network segmentation, wireless, backups, IPSec and content filtering.
- Network and server monitoring.
- On premise, SAN and cloud server virtualization.
- Database management.
- Conduct daily infrastructure assessments.
- Manage Group Policy and Active Directory.
- Office 365 administration.
- Evaluate new technologies for possible implementation.
- Maintain hardware and software license compliance.
- Coordinate with IT Security Team to develop and maintain corporate security policies.
- Train and educate end users on proper security techniques, trends and procedures.
- Workstation deployment and troubleshooting.
- Respond to end user helpdesk support requests from local and remote users.
- Security vulnerability, intrusion prevention and remediation.
- Implement security improvements.
- Keep up to date with the latest threats and attack methods.
- Maintain and create documentation.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Computer lifecycle management, hardware acquisition and inventory management.
- Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) required;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. - 8+ years of IT experience as a Systems Engineer/Administrator in an SMB/Enterprise environment.
- 8+ years supporting a cloud‑focused hybrid cloud/on‑premise IT infrastructure, preferably utilizing MS Azure.
- 8+ years supporting Active Directory.
- 8+ years supporting Microsoft Office 365.
- 8+ years supporting Cisco (or equivalent) firewalls, routers, and switches.
- 8+ years of providing excellent desktop and end‑user support.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours and travel when required.
- Strong English oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with proven project‑management skills.
- Ability to convey technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to non‑technical personnel.
- Strong understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure.
- Support VMware environment.
- Understanding of IT security controls (NIST 800‑171, CMMC, SOC‑2 or equivalent).
- Understanding of Veeam and/or Rubrik backup software.
- Understanding of Fortinet firewalls.
- ITIL Foundation certification a plus.
- Security+, Network+, MCSE, CCNA R/S or CCNA Security certifications a plus.

Work environment: sedentary. Light to medium physical activity, occasional lifting (floor to waist level) and minimal to moderate sensory requirements. No exposure to blood borne pathogens or extreme temperatures. Normal workday hours: 8‑12 hours, occasional overtime as required.
