Working hours: 38.75 hours per week, flexibility required, typical hours between 8am and 6pm

Contract: Full time, permanent

Your new role

What you’ll do:

The Small Works Supervisor plays a pivotal role within the maintenance team, overseeing the effective delivery of small works and associated activities across the Wakefield contract.

The role is responsible for coordinating and supervising subcontractors undertaking small works, ensuring that works are delivered safely, efficiently, to the required quality standard, within agreed timescales and in accordance with the requirements of the contract.

The Small Works Supervisor will act as the key operational point of contact for subcontractors, providing clear direction and ensuring that all works are properly planned, coordinated and completed. The role will also involve regular liaison with the client, operational teams, Compliance colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

The role requires a strong understanding of building maintenance and construction activities, together with the ability to manage multiple works simultaneously and challenge subcontractors where standards, costs, quality or timescales are not being achieved.

Flexibility is essential, as the role may occasionally require activities outside standard working hours to meet operational requirements and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

What you’ll need:

  • A full UK Driving Licence
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Trained to SSSTS or SMSTS is advantageous
  • CSCS is advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Relevant trade background and/or recognised construction qualification
  • Previous experience of supervising subcontractors, contractors or small works within a facilities management, maintenance or construction environment
  • Good understanding of building maintenance and small works activities
  • Experience of managing multiple works, contractors and priorities simultaneously
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe systems of work
  • Ability to review and challenge RAMS, quotations, scopes of work and contractor documentation
  • Good understanding of subcontractor performance, quality control and commercial management

The successful candidate will require an Enhances DBS Check before starting in the job.
