On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their established team on a permanent basis.
Our client delivers mechanical building services projects predominantly within the retail sector, working across food retail, jewellery stores and associated commercial environments.
Due to continued project demand, they are looking to recruit a driven and technically capable Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical building services background who enjoys managing projects, building client relationships and taking responsibility for delivery from initial planning through to final handover.
The Role
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of mechanical installations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, within programme and to the required quality standards.
Working closely with clients, site managers, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams, you will act as a key point of contact throughout the project life-cycle.
The position involves regular site attendance, client meetings and national travel, so flexibility and a proactive approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage mechanical projects from initial mobilisation through to completion and final handover.
* Oversee mechanical building services installations, including HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and associated pipework systems.
* Attend regular site meetings and coordinate activities with site managers, contractors and other project stakeholders.
* Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring expectations are consistently managed.
* Monitor project programmes, progress and deadlines, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
* Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials, plant and equipment, ensuring everything is available on site when required.
* Manage subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
* Monitor project costs, resources and expenditure, maintaining commercial awareness throughout.
* Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with relevant Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and site-specific requirements.
* Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality control and compliance.
* Oversee commissioning, snagging and final handover activities.
* Identify and resolve technical and operational challenges, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or in a similar mechanical building services project delivery role.
* A strong technical understanding of mechanical building services installations.
* Experience with HVAC, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
* Knowledge of plumbing installations, pipework systems and associated mechanical services.
* Previous experience delivering projects within commercial, retail, shopfitting or fit-out environments would be highly advantageous.
* The ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
* Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site-based teams.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
* Excellent communication, client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
* A good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site compliance requirements.
* A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership.

* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
* Relevant mechanical engineering or building services qualifications.
* IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualifications.
* Relevant HVAC, air conditioning or mechanical services training.
