Contract:

Full-time, temporary from January 2026 for 1 year.

We are working with a thriving, small two‑form‑entry primary school in the heart of Wakefield. The school is extremely supportive and is looking for a high‑quality member of teaching staff to take on the role of Year 2 class teacher.

About the School
  • Situated centrally in Wakefield, the school benefits from strong community links and a supportive, friendly staff team.
  • The school has a nurturing and stimulating environment, underpinned by values such as respect, kindness and resilience.
  • The curriculum has a huge emphasis on developing a child wholly – academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Class sizes are small which provides excellent opportunities to make a real difference and build strong and meaningful relationships with pupils.
  • The successful applicant will be supported in a school where professional development is valued.
The Role
  • Take responsibility for a full class of Year 2 pupils.
  • Plan, deliver and assess engaging learning experiences that meet the needs of all pupils in line with the school's curriculum.
  • Use effective formative assessment and adapt teaching to support individual progress.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, school leaders and other staff to ensure pupils' achievement, behaviour and welfare.
  • Support the pastoral care of pupils, modelling and promoting the school's values.
We are looking for a teacher who
  • Holds QTS and has experience of teaching in KS1, ideally Year 2.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management skills and the ability to raise achievement, especially in reading, writing and mathematics.
  • Is committed to inclusion and can adapt provision for a wide range of learners, including those with special educational needs.
  • Embraces the values of the school community and contributes positively to school life both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Is reflective, proactive and keen to collaborate in a smaller school context where flexibility and team‑spirit matter.
Application

If you're an experienced KS1 teacher who is passionate about making a difference in a small primary school setting, we'd love to hear from you. Please apply via the Trust Education and include:

  • A clear statement of your suitability for the role (including your experience in Year 2 or KS1).
  • Up to date CV.

All applications will be considered and interviews may be held on a rolling basis.
