The Deaf Team are part of the Sensory and Physical Difficulties Team within Wakefield Inclusion Special Educational Needs and Disability Support Service (WISENDSS). The Deaf Team work with children and young people and their families, from 0-25 across early years, primary and secondary mainstream settings to enhance inclusive education. We also manage and develop, alongside the host schools, 2 Deaf Resource Provisions.
Due to retirement we are seeking to appoint a full time Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People. Applications from experienced teachers who do not hold the mandatory qualification but who have experience of working with Deaf learners will also be considered.
You will be:
- An enthusiastic and creative Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People with experience of SEND and inclusion in mainstream or special school settings or be willing to complete the mandatory qualification.
- Able to challenge, motivate and inspire teachers, support staff, parents/carers and other professionals to ensure the needs of deaf learners are met.
- A good communicator, skilled in building relationships with colleagues and families.
This is a challenging and exciting opportunity, to join a motivated and supportive team committed to providing a quality service, which ensures that deaf pupils are fully included in all aspects of school life and have the opportunities to become confident and independent learners. This is a full-time post and if appointed you will be responsible for a targeted peripatetic caseload.
