Your role will be key to helping pupils thrive within the mainstream curriculum. Your responsibilities will include:

• Effectively using visual supports, social stories, and specialist techniques (like PECS or Makaton) to aid pupils' understanding and expression.

• Supporting the child during group work and unstructured times (like play and lunch) to promote positive social interaction.

• Helping the pupil manage sensory input and process emotions, reducing anxiety and preventing escalation.

• Adapting learning materials and routines to suit the pupil's specific learning style and sensory needs.

• Preparing the pupil for changes in routine and lesson shifts, providing predictability and reassurance.

To excel in this position, you must possess:

• Demonstrable experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a mainstream or specialist setting.

• Proven ability to use or train in PECS, Makaton, or visual support systems.

• An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

• The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

• A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, but strong, relevant experience is essential.
