Behavioural Teaching Assistant (Team Teach Qualified)

We are searching for a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in the Wakefield area, WF2. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students access learning, regulate behaviour, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

A Team Teach qualification is essential for this role.

What the role involve :

  • Provide behavioural support to individual pupils and small groups.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Use Team Teach approaches to support de-escalation and positive handling when required.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and social development.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents, and progress.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Requirements for the role :

  • Valid Team Teach qualification (essential).
  • Pupil Referred Unit work experience.
  • Experience in supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
