Behavioural Teaching Assistant (Team Teach Qualified)
Location: Wakefield, WF2
Start Date: January 2026 (ASAP)
Duration: Ongoing (Potentially July 2026)
Contract Type: Temporary, Full-time
We are searching for a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs in the Wakefield area, WF2. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students access learning, regulate behaviour, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.
A Team Teach qualification is essential for this role.
What the role involves:- Provide behavioural support to individual pupils and small groups.
- Apply behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
- Use Team Teach approaches to support de-escalation and positive handling when required.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and social development.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff.
- Maintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents, and progress.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Valid Team Teach qualification (essential).
- Pupil Referred Unit work experience.
- Experience in supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
