Position: Aspiring Behaviour, Pastoral & SEMH Specialist - Secondary Schools (Temporary)
Aspiring Behaviour, Pastoral & SEMH Roles – Secondary Schools Leeds & Wakefield

Are you a graduate or passionate individual who wants to support young people in secondary schools? Are you considering a career as a behaviour specialist, pastoral lead, SEMH practitioner, or inclusion mentor? This Secondary School Support role could be the perfect first step on your journey.

Join highly regarded secondary schools across Leeds and Wakefield, supporting students aged 11–18 with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs. These schools provide a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every student is supported to thrive academically and personally.

A Behaviour / Pastoral / SEMH Support role allows you to:

Mentor students one-to-one or in small groups to improve engagement and behaviour.

Support interventions for SEMH, attendance, and wellbeing.

Work with the pastoral team to create a positive school culture and inclusive environment.

Assist with behaviour management in lessons and across the school site.

Contribute to programmes that develop resilience, emotional regulation, and social skills.

Key focus areas include:

Behaviour and engagement support

SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) interventions

Mentoring and guidance for vulnerable or disengaged students

Supporting inclusion and positive school culture

Communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills

What this role offers:

Pay: £101.40–£130 per day

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:45 pm

First-hand experience in secondary school behaviour, pastoral, and SEMH support

Opportunities to shadow experienced behaviour leads, pastoral teams, and inclusion specialists

Ideal for graduates or aspiring behaviour/pastoral/SEMH professionals

Develop skills in mentorship, empathy, communication, and resilience

This Secondary School Support role starts immediately and will run through the academic year, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent position for the right candidate.
