About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational journey by providing tailored support both academically and emotionally.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement personalised strategies that promote engagement, positive behaviour, and progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with special educational needs and behavioural challenges
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans
  • Support the pupil’s emotional regulation and social development
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured environment
  • Monitor and record progress, reporting to staff and parents as required
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external agencies
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Have experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with challenging behaviour
  • Be calm, patient, and resilient under pressure
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships
  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Be committed to inclusion and supporting every child to succeed
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN
  • Experience in primary school settings, particularly Key Stage 1
  • Training in behaviour management approaches (e.g. Team Teach, de‑escalation techniques)
