GSL Education are seeking reliable and motivated Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Wakefield.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will step in during a teacher's absence to ensure lessons run smoothly, pupils stay focused, and pre-set work is completed effectively. It is a role that suits someone who enjoys working with young people, values structure, and wants to play a meaningful part in a school's day-to-day success.
Responsibilities- Supervise lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher
- Manage the delivery of pre-prepared learning materials and keep students engaged throughout
- Maintain a positive, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment
- Handle pupil behaviour with consistency and in accordance with school policies
- Support and encourage students as they work through their set tasks
- Report any concerns, incidents, or issues promptly to the appropriate member of staff
- Contribute to a safe and respectful learning atmosphere for all pupils
- Experience in a school or youth-facing environment is desirable
- The confidence and composure to manage a classroom independently
- Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to connect with young people
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to adapt quickly when needed
- A reliable, flexible, and positive approach to every working day
- A sincere interest in supporting pupils' learning and overall wellbeing
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to complete a new application)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection; successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Hold an up-to-date CV with two references from the last 2 years
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
