1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Contract

Next Gen Teachers are currently recruiting for experienced and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming schools throughout Wakefield.

These full-time opportunities involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis who have a variety of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, communication difficulties and learning disabilities. The successful candidates will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with SEN and are looking to make a genuine difference within inclusive and supportive school settings.

The Role:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with a range of SEN needs
  • Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom environment
  • Assist with learning activities, emotional regulation and social development
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs and learning styles
  • Help pupils remain engaged, focused and confident throughout the school day
  • Support positive behaviour and encourage independence
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
  • Previous SEN experience within a school or similar setting is essential
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs is highly desirable
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to adapt quickly and work proactively
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
