Position: 1:1 Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant

Horbury Primary Academy are seeking to appoint a caring, reliable and enthusiastic 1:1 Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant to provide dedicated support for a child with a visual impairment who will be joining the Academy in September 2026. The primary aim of this role is not only to supervise the child during the lunchtime period, ensuring their safety and wellbeing, but also to actively support their full inclusion in all lunchtime activities.

We are looking for someone who will go above and beyond to ensure the child feels valued, included and able to participate confidently alongside their peers.

The successful candidate will demonstrate kindness, patience and genuine care, taking time to understand the child's individual needs and helping them build friendships, independence and enjoyment during social times. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children. Being observant, responsive and empathetic is essential, as is a willingness to learn and adapt to support the child effectively. Ideally, you will have experience of working with children or supporting those with visual impairments or SEND; however, full training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
