SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary
Wakefield | Full-time, 8:00am – 3:00pm | Starting September
Looking for a role where you can genuinely change a young person’s day, every single day? You might have just found it.
We’re working with a welcoming secondary school in Wakefield that’s on the lookout for an SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This isn’t a sit‑on‑the‑sidelines kind of role. You’ll be right in the mix, supporting students with a range of additional needs, from behavioural challenges to varied learning needs, helping them feel understood, supported, and ready to succeed.
Responsibilities- Supporting students 1:1, building trust and confidence where it matters most
- Leading small group sessions, helping learners engage in a way that works for them
- Working alongside teachers to adapt learning and keep students on track
- Supporting both behaviour and learning, with patience, consistency, and a calm approach
- Celebrating the small wins, because they matter just as much as the big ones
- Outgoing and approachable, someone students feel comfortable around
- Friendly, with a natural ability to build relationships
- Keen to learn and develop, open to growing your skills in SEN support
- Resilient and positive, even on the tougher days
- Genuinely passionate about helping young people thrive
- Valid enhanced DBS check and subscription to the DBS Update Service
- All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
- Free online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training is offered to all workers.
- In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
- All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
