justteachers are currently recruiting for a passionate and resilient Behaviour Specialist to join a secondary school in Wakefield. This full-time role is ideal for a cover supervisor or qualified teacher with experience or a strong interest in behaviour management and pastoral support. The role is available to start immediately or from September 2026 and offers excellent career progression opportunities within a supportive and ambitious trust.

Key Responsibilities- Deliver pre-set lessons and maintain a positive classroom environment in the absence of the class teacher
- Build positive relationships with students to support behaviour, engagement and academic progress
- Work closely with the pastoral team, SEND department and leadership to implement behaviour strategies
- De-escalate challenging situations and promote restorative approaches where appropriate
- Act as a positive role model, providing consistency and structure across the school day
- Support students on a 1:1 or small group basis as needed
- Contribute to the wider school community and behaviour culture
- Maintain accurate records of behaviour incidents and interventions
- Experience working with young people in a school or youth work setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
- Ability to build rapport with students, especially those with additional needs or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges
- Flexibility, resilience and a proactive attitude
A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential – experienced cover supervisors or support staff with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
