About the RoleThe role is to enable all children and young people to have a positive, safe and rewarding experience in their childhood and teenage years and to make a successful transition to adulthood by achieving their full potential.
Prepare young people for adulthood equipped with a good education, job prospects and social skills and to be valued and engaged as citizens, by supporting a broad youth offer of high-quality activities.
Promote the safety and welfare of children and young people, prioritising the most vulnerable.
Build, develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, supporting their transition into adulthood.
The role is available to apply for as a Full Time or Part Time post.
Key Responsibilities- Support the team to ensure that all positive activity and informal learning opportunities for young people are effectively promoted and publicised across a range of social media channels and made readily accessible to marginalised groups.
- Support the team to build links with a range of voluntary and statutory partners to contribute to the provision and development of new and existing services for young people.
- Meet responsibilities under Health and Safety at work guidance and legislation.
- Role is based at The Hut, Airedale and will require working directly with young people to develop their informal education by providing programmes of activities, services and facilities.
- Role requires evening working up to 9pm to support the youth provision outside of school hours.
- A good attitude towards working with young people, and a flexible approach to the delivery of youth activities.
- Youth Support Workers must successfully complete a Level 3 qualification in Youth Work within a 2 year time frame from commencement of the course.
- Evidence of maintaining skill and knowledge base in professional field through training or other opportunities.
- Knowledge of the risks and needs that young people experience.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development and the issues that can impact on the development of young people.
- An understanding of the barriers that certain groups experience in accessing services and support.
- Knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with proven indicators of poor outcomes.
- Understanding of the safeguarding and child protection issues in working with young people.
