Deputy Headteacher – Quality of Education

Meadowcroft School, Wakefield, WF1 4AD
. Permanent. Start September 2026.

Salary:
Up to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata).

Hours:

37.5 hours per week (Mon‑Fri, with specified shifts).

Contract:

Permanent, Term Time Only.

About the Role

Inspire, transform, and lead with purpose. As a senior leader on the Senior Leadership Team, you will drive excellence in teaching, learning, curriculum, and outcomes across the school, with a focus on inclusive, trauma‑informed education.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop and implement the Quality of Education Strategy, embedding a whole‑school trauma‑informed, relational approach into curriculum and pedagogy.
  • Lead curriculum design, sequencing and assessment to achieve high‑quality learning.
  • Coach staff and monitor classroom practice to secure consistently excellent teaching.
  • Champion a restorative, relational behaviour ethos and lead proactive strategies to prevent bullying, discrimination and inclusion barriers.
  • Oversee SEMH tracking, interventions and multi‑agency support.
  • Amplify pupil voice to inform curriculum, culture and improvement.
  • Work closely with the DSL to ensure safeguarding is robust, responsive and pupil‑centred.
  • Chair MDT meetings and coordinate effective multi‑agency collaboration.
  • Oversee operational systems such as daily cover, transport and examinations.
  • Contribute to whole‑school strategic planning and model high‑impact leadership.
What We’re Looking For
  • QTS with proven senior leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SEMH, trauma‑informed practice and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Experience leading behaviour, pastoral or curriculum systems.
  • Skilled in multi‑agency working and safeguarding.
  • Analytical, organised and driven by values.
  • A leader who inspires trust, builds relationships and raises standards.
  • Driving licence required.
  • NPQSL / NPQH (or working toward).
  • Experience in specialist or alternative provision.
  • Experience chairing MDTs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour or curriculum tracking systems.
