School Attendance Officer

Every school day counts, and you’ll be the one helping make them happen.

We’re looking for a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to join a welcoming school in Wakefield from September. This full‑time role will play a key part in improving student attendance, supporting families, and helping ensure every young person has the best chance to succeed.

You’ll take ownership of attendance across the school, working closely with students, families, and staff to monitor patterns, address concerns, and remove barriers to regular attendance.

This role is all about consistency, communication, and building positive relationships.

• Monitoring daily attendance and following up on absences
• Identifying patterns and concerns, taking early action where needed
• Communicating with parents and carers regarding attendance issues
• Working alongside pastoral teams and senior leaders
• Supporting students who may be struggling to attend regularly
• Maintaining accurate records and producing attendance reports

We’re keen to hear from individuals who are organized, confident communicators, and genuinely committed to supporting young people.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience working in a school or similar setting
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Confidence speaking with parents, carers, and external agencies
• An understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding
• The ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy

Good attendance is the foundation for success in school. In this role, you’ll be helping students stay on track, supporting families, and making a real difference to outcomes across the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
