120.00 per day (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
We are working in partnership with a well-regarded specialist secondary school in Wakefield that is seeking committed support staff to join their team. The school provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The school places a strong focus on wellbeing, consistency, and personalised learning. Through a carefully adapted curriculum and high levels of staff support, pupils are supported to make both academic and personal progress. The setting promotes confidence, independence, and positive social development.
With smaller class sizes and a collaborative staff team, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a genuine difference in young people's lives within the Wakefield community.
About the Role - SEN Teaching Assistant:- Provide classroom support to students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
- Assist pupils with additional needs, promoting independence and positive behaviour
- Support emotional regulation and social development throughout the school day
- Act as a consistent and positive role model
- Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, coaching, care, or voluntary roles)
- A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Resilient, adaptable, and able to work in a dynamic school environment
- A genuine passion for inclusion and supporting pupils with additional needs
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
- Provide two professional child-related references
