SEND Teacher – Wakefield

Overview

A SEND Teacher role supporting pupils with additional needs in specialist schools and alternative provisions across Wakefield. The role focuses on building relationships, providing consistent structure, and delivering personalised learning.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Adapt learning to support pupils with ASD, SEMH, PMLD, and complex needs.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils who require trust and consistency.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and the wider school team.
  • Create safe, structured, and engaging learning environments.
  • Support both academic progress and emotional development.

Requirements
  • QTS, QTLS, or strong SEND teaching experience.
  • Experience working within SEND, SEMH, SEN, or specialist education settings preferred.
  • Confidence differentiating lessons for a range of additional needs.
  • Calm, patient, and compassionate approach.

Additional information

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position; it may become permanent later.
