Milk Education is more than a supply partner – we’re a community for educators. Join us and gain access to training, personal development opportunities, and ongoing support. We’re currently recruiting for Nursery Practitioners to join on supply in Nurseries, EYFS settings and Primary Schools in and around Wakefield, on a long or short-term basis starting in September.

This role is on a supply basis and could either be Day-2-Day work or a Longer-Term position, depending on your preference.

This is a great opportunity for newly qualified or experienced Nursery Practitioners to become a familiar face in a setting where early years development, wellbeing and community go hand in hand.

You’ll be joining supportive and inclusive early years settings that put children’s development, safety and wellbeing at the centre of everything they do. It’s a great fit for someone who wants to build positive relationships with children and become a familiar face in a setting that values consistency and high-quality care.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Support children’s learning, development and wellbeing through engaging and age-appropriate activities.
  • Work closely with Nursery staff, Early Years Teachers and other practitioners to provide a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support children’s social, emotional and personal development, encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Assist with observations, assessments and planning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Support children with their personal care needs, including toileting, feeding and maintaining good hygiene where required.
  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of all children by following safeguarding procedures and setting policies at all times.
Requirements or

Skills:
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a Primary School or similar educational setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach with excellent communication skills.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education practices.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and the Right to Work in the UK.
Benefits:
  • Competitive rates of pay with temp-to-perm routes available.
  • Speedy registration process & fast-track compliance – APSCo Compliance+ accredited for the highest safer recruitment standards.
  • Flexible days and working hours to suit your schedule.
  • Culture-matched placements – we take the time to understand you and find schools that fit your values and strengths.
  • Priority Partnership school network – access to trusted schools who work with us long-term on staffing, enrichment and community initiatives.
  • 5+ CPD courses completed before placement (including Safeguarding, SEND & Behaviour) with access to further accredited training through Milk Academy.
  • FREE PSHE lesson plans and resources, designed by real teachers.
  • FREE Educator Wellbeing resources and access to our community hub – because we believe supported staff stay longer and make a bigger impact.
  • School Preparation Pack with handover notes and insightful school guides – so you walk in ready on day one.
  • 24/7 support from your personal consultant, directly through their work mobile phone to ensure your journey is personal.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
