GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a calm and committed Behaviour Support Worker (BSW) to work with a school in Wakefield (WF1). The successful candidate will provide practical and emotional support to pupils who may need additional guidance with behaviour, relationships, engagement and their wider school experience.
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:- Provide individualised support to pupils experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.
- Build trusting and positive relationships with students.
- Encourage pupils to recognise and manage their emotions appropriately.
- Support students in developing positive behaviours and coping strategies.
- Help students re-engage with classroom learning and school routines.
- Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support individual behaviour plans.
- Record relevant observations and communicate concerns appropriately.
- Experience regarding supporting children or young people with behavioural needs is encouraged.
- Experience in education, youth work, pastoral care or a similar setting would be beneficial.
- Patient, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
- Confidence when responding to challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills is must for aBehaviour Support Worker.
- Ability to remain calm and consistent under pressure.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- You will have a consultant to support you throughout.
