GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a patient and dedicated 1:1 Male Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with a school in Wakefield (WF15). This role offers the opportunity to provide focused individual support to a students, helping them access learning, develop confidence and make positive progress throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities as a 1:1 Male Teaching Assistant:
  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support tailored to the pupil's individual needs.
  • Assist with classroom activities, instructions and learning tasks.
  • Encourage the studetns to participate positively in lessons and school routines.
  • Help develop confidence, independence and appropriate social skills.
  • Support positive behaviour and maintain a calm learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and wider support team.
  • Monitor engagement and provide relevant feedback on the pupil's progress.
Requirements for the 1:1 Male Teaching Assistant (TA) role:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Experience in education, childcare, or a similar setting would be beneficial.
  • A patient, supportive and consistent approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with a pupil.
  • Reliable and committed to supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
