Lead Land Surveyor – Wakefield, UK
Full‑time, permanent role based at the Wakefield Office with nationwide field work and travel, including overnight stays in hotels. Reports to Associate Director.
Responsibilities- Adhere to working instructions from internal and external clients.
- Carry out topographical and associated geomatic surveys, in accordance with company procedures and best practice, typically involving a combination of Total Station, 3d Laser Scanning and GNSS observations.
- Undertake post processing of data and production of outputs using survey software.
- Compile survey reports and documentation, in conjunction with the Project & CAD Manager.
- Maintain vehicles and survey equipment in line with company expectations.
- Undertake internal and external training, as part of personal professional development plan.
- Demonstrate a keen attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Provide training and mentoring to junior staff.
- Adhere to all RSK company policies and client policies and procedures when on site.
- Supported by the company, maintain and develop technical knowledge, such as British Standards and industry standards.
- Minimum of 3 years industry experience in a similar role is required.
- Experience in the use of Total Stations and GNSS is essential.
- Experience in the use of 3d Laser Scanners is preferred, but not essential.
- Experience of using n4ce and Trimble Realworks software is desirable but not essential.
- CSCS card holder essential.
- Relevant NVQ or degree level qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Depending on qualifications already held the post holder will be expected to attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses.
- Ability to follow instructions, work part of a multi‑disciplinary team and also work solo, using own initiative.
- Self‑motivated, solutions focused, organised with effective time management.
- Ability to conduct business in a professional and polite manner at all times.
- Familiar with using data management tools and reporting software including Microsoft Office and computer literate (training provided on other software).
- Adaptable to variable working environments.
- Ability to work remotely around the UK, including from home when agreed and approved. Possibility of some overseas travel.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, when required.
- A manual, valid UK driving license.
- Commitment to safety and improving ways of working.
- Salary commensurate with experience within the range of £33,000 and £36,000.
