An established manufacturing business is seeking a hands‑on Electrical Maintenance Team Leader to join its site‑based engineering team near Wakefield. This is a key leadership role within a high‑volume production environment, offering long‑term stability and the opportunity to lead and develop a skilled electrical maintenance team.
The RoleThe Electrical Maintenance Team Lead will be responsible for coordinating and supporting a small team of electrical engineers while remaining actively involved in day‑to‑day maintenance activities. The role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate electrical maintenance engineers delivering planned and reactive maintenance
- Carry out hands‑on electrical fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on plant and automated equipment
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives to improve asset performance
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and skills development for team members
- Liaise with production and engineering teams to prioritise work and minimise operational impact
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS and ensure PPM schedules are achieved
- Participate in a 1-in-4 on‑call rota to support out‑of‑hours requirements
- Time‑served Electrical Engineer with relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
- Experience working in an electrical maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong hands‑on fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
- Previous experience leading or supervising engineers, or a clear desire to progress into a leadership role
- Good understanding of electrical safety, permit‑to‑work, and lockout/tagout systems
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
- Familiarity with CMMS systems is advantageous
