The OpportunityThe company is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Estimator to join its team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in securing future work by preparing accurate, competitive, and winning tenders for a diverse portfolio of projects, primarily within the civil engineering and utilities sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end tender process for projects ranging from £250k to £10m+.
- Analyse tender documentation, specifications, and drawings to fully understand project scope.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, plant, labour, and subcontractor elements.
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities at the tender stage.
- Liaise closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal operational teams.
- Prepare and present tender settlement documents and commercial proposals to the senior management team.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the estimating team.
- Ensure all estimates align with the company’s rigorous health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Proven experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- A strong track record of preparing successful tenders for contractors.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and current market rates.
- Proficient in using estimating software and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A relevant industry qualification (e.g., HNC/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering) is desirable.
- A full UK driving licence.
