Overview

The EMEA Energy and Water team is looking for a Water Infrastructure Manager to support scaling and growth across our Data Centre network. This role focuses on the development, implementation and construction of new water infrastructure to deliver large-scale water projects and to renewably and strategically operate our infrastructure. This role is available in Madrid, Zaragoza, London, Frankfurt, and Dublin.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to our customers’ services. We work on challenging problems with a broad supply chain and are looking for talented people to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing capacity at a low cost for our customers. Key responsibilities
  • You will own the end-to-end delivery of off-site water infrastructure solutions, from scoping to physical delivery, and manage as the business and technical owner of all aspects of the delivery.
  • You will manage 3rd party design consultants, develop and document requirements, budgets, business cases, permitting and project schedules.
  • You will prepare project contracts, milestone payments and schedules; navigate legal reviews and procurement pathways.
  • The role requires strong project management, technical competency in design and a programmatic leadership through legal and procurement to drive results.
  • You will multitask, re-prioritize, and effectively lead deliveries based on changing business needs.
  • You will build and maintain the overall delivery program and project budget, submitting Capital Allocation Requests to Senior leadership to secure finance for project delivery.
  • You will prepare investment need/business case papers to secure internal funding for water reinforcement projects to secure water supply and discharges.
A day in the life
  • Liaison with regulators and external stakeholders (Water utilities, environmental agencies, health department, construction contractors, etc.)
  • Liaison with internal stakeholders (Design Engineering, Environmental, Legal, Procurement, Construction, Real Estate, etc.)
  • Leverage project management tools and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Regularly report to senior leadership on status of key project metrics vs. commitments.
  • Ensure construction standards are followed and national construction regulations are complied with.
  • Create detailed planning packs to build scalable and future-proof water infrastructure.
