Financial Manager
An exciting opportunity for an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to join an acquisitive group based in Wakefield.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, managing a team of five and providing accurate, commercially focused financial information to the FD and senior management team.
The group is continuing to grow through acquisition, making this a varied role with responsibility for financial control, management reporting, cash flow, budgeting and supporting the integration of acquired businesses.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and developing a finance team of five.
- Producing accurate monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Supporting the FD with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial planning.
- Overseeing purchase and sales ledgers, payments, invoicing and reconciliations.
- Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet.
- Monitoring income, expenditure, profitability and cash flow across the group.
- Supporting the integration of newly acquired businesses.
- Managing payroll processes and liaising with external providers.
- Preparing year-end information and working with external accountants and auditors.
- Providing practical financial insight and commercial support to the FD and senior management.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and profitability.
- Supporting the continued development of the finance function as the group grows.
The business currently operates on Sage and is moving across to Sage Intacct, so this role will also have an important part to play in the development of the group's finance systems and processes.
We are looking for a qualified or QBE accountant with strong financial control experience. You may currently be a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant or similar and will ideally have experience within an SME or group environment.
Most importantly, you will be hands-on, commercially minded and comfortable working closely with senior management. This is not a heavily corporate environment; it is a role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and being close to the day-to-day running of a growing business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Financial Controller looking for a genuine No.2 position to an experienced FD, with the opportunity to play a key role in an acquisitive group as it continues to grow.
