Public Rights of Way Support OfficerWe are looking for a capable member of staff to help and support officers to update the Public Rights of Way map for Wakefield.
Working as a technical support officer in the Public Rights of Way Team to help update and maintain the legal record of Public Rights of Way. This role is to support the Public Rights of Way Officers process applications to modify the legal record of public rights of way, the Definitive Map and Statement, under the provisions of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
This will require analysis of historical documents and user evidence.
The role is also to support Public Rights of Way Officers process applications to amend rights of way under the provisions of the Highways Act 1980 and the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 as well as changes to rights of way under other relevant legislation such as the Cycle Tracts Act 1984.
This is an opportunity to provide support Officers with new initiatives and schemes for Active Travel, recreational paths and securing improvements for access when new development affect rights of way.
The role will assist with customer contact, dealing with correspondence and communicate with the Council Contact Centre as required. The post will act as the first point of contact for the team and will be required to undertake a wide range of office duties to support the team and arrange meetings rooms.
The role is permanent & full time with its head office at Wakefield One in Wakefield City Centre, it also benefits from the opportunity for remote working.
Essential requirements- 4 GCSE or BTEC/ONC in a relevant subject or considerable relevant experience
- IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Once in role the post holder will be required to work towards a Level 2 Leadership & Management qualification or equivalent
