We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wakefield, a category A Prison located in West Yorkshire.
Hours – 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) with Wednesday or Thursday flex.
This full‑time position offers an annual salary up to £64,471 per annum FTE, depending on experience.
Legal vetting required – candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK; due to the nature of the role, offers of employment are subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the jobAs an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. Key duties include:
- Demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing wide ranging and complex patient problems
- Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team, which is a multi‑disciplinary group of registered and non‑registered professionals including mental health and substance misuse practitioners
- Act as a role model by maintaining professional appearance and standards at all times
- Support senior clinicians on site as part of the daily leadership team, providing clinical input for all patients
- Work with the team to ensure patient safety, manage complex cases and apply the most up‑to‑date treatment methodology to patient care

- Registered Nurse Adult Mental Health with current NMC or Registered Paramedic with current HCPC
- Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification
- MSc in Advanced Practice
- Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice guidance
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
