Advanced Clinical Practitioner

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wakefield, a category A Prison located in West Yorkshire.

Hours – 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) with Wednesday or Thursday flex.

This full‑time position offers an annual salary up to £64,471 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Legal vetting required – candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK; due to the nature of the role, offers of employment are subject to additional vetting and security checks.

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. Key duties include:

• Demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing wide ranging and complex patient problems
• Provide clinical leadership for the mental health team, which is a multi‑disciplinary group of registered and non‑registered professionals including mental health and substance misuse practitioners
• Act as a role model by maintaining professional appearance and standards at all times
• Support senior clinicians on site as part of the daily leadership team, providing clinical input for all patients
• Work with the team to ensure patient safety, manage complex cases and apply the most up‑to‑date treatment methodology to patient care

• Registered Nurse Adult Mental Health with current NMC or Registered Paramedic with current HCPC
• Independent/supplementary prescriber qualification
• MSc in Advanced Practice
• Experience working autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner following best practice guidance

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
