Military Area Manager

About the Role

Amazon’s military recruiting team invites former military personnel to transition into the private sector. As an Area Manager in Amazon Operations, you will ensure your fulfilment centre runs efficiently, leading a team that maintains safety, quality, and high productivity. Your responsibilities include overseeing projects to streamline processes, analysing shift performance, and collaborating with management-level colleagues to standardise best practices.

• Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing
• Analyse and implement changes to keep quality and productivity at a consistently high level
• Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity and increase quality of service for customers within your area of responsibility
• Analyse shift performance against relevant business objectives, and put in place actions to improve operational excellence
• Work collaboratively with management-level colleagues to standardise shift practices

You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring the operation is as productive as possible. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety, uphold quality and shift performance standards, and oversee process improvements. A typical day is varied, including routine team management, daily operational responsibilities, process improvement initiatives, and wide‑scale operational contingency tasks.

You’ll also serve as a role model and mentor to new managers.

The Customer Fulfilment (CF) team, part of Amazon’s core Operations, manages more than 1.5 million orders a day from our fulfilment centres, which are the first mile of Amazon’s delivery network. The team works with physical products and data analytics to support fast, affordable delivery worldwide.

• Experience in English‑language communication skills, both written and verbal
• A degree
• Relevant experience in people management
• Relevant experience in communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
• Relevant experience in using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions

• Experience working with Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques
• Experience working in another logistics environment
• Relevant experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
