Sister​/Charge Nurse

Overview

This is an exciting new role with Care of the Elderly on Gate 42 at Pinderfields Hospital. The position includes one full‑time (34.5 hours) and one part‑time (23 hours) role on our busy mixed elderly and neck of femur fracture ward.

• Work clinically and use clinical leadership in decision making with the Ward Manager.
• Ensure patient safety and continuous improvement in the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
• Delegate work to junior staff, organise workload, provide time‑management support and mentor pre‑ and post‑registered staff.
• Plan and manage skill mix, use the e‑rostering system and maintain staff records (sickness, annual leave).
• Assist in orientation/induction of new staff and support multidisciplinary teams.
• Represent the team in clinical governance, assist the senior sister/charge nurse with complaints, incidents and quality improvement.
• Promote healthy working environment and manage conflict when necessary.

• Clinical experience required.
• Preferable orthopaedic/NOF experience.
