Resuscitation Officer

Are you a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a passion for education and improving patient safety? We are seeking a highly motivated Resuscitation Instructor to deliver high-quality Basic Life Support (BLS), Immediate Life Support (ILS) and First Aid training to multidisciplinary staff across the Trust.

This primary non‑clinical role requires excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills, confidence to work independently, and a commitment to supporting high‑quality resuscitation training and patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver in‑hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training for multidisciplinary Trust staff.
  • Provide First Aid and Immediate Life Support courses and support audit of cardiac arrest procedures and equipment.
  • Offer clinical advice and support regarding resuscitation and emergency response procedures, techniques and equipment.
  • Maintain training records, equipment, and ensure safe practice during training sessions.
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and national recommendations for resuscitation.
  • Participate in critical incident debriefs, incident reporting and the Resuscitation Audit Program.
  • Promote educational innovation and continual professional development within the Trust.
  • Travel by vehicle as necessary to support training across Trust sites.
Qualifications
  • Registered health professional (e.g., NMC or Paramedic) with current registration.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PTTLS certification) or willingness to obtain.
  • Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS/ILS instructor or willing to complete.
  • Experience training in a community, learning disability, social care or mental health Trust is advantageous.
Person Specification Training
  • Evidence of continued professional development and its implementation within the last 12 months.
Experience
  • Significant postgraduate clinical experience, including medical emergencies and cardiac arrests.
  • Specialist knowledge of resuscitation techniques.
  • Experience working with a wide range of professionals (medical, nursing, allied health, and management).
  • Relevant clinical and teaching/mentoring experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident in teaching a multidisciplinary workforce.
  • Understanding of training needs relative to the role.
  • Experience in clinical audit.
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of resuscitation policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ability to motivate and support multi‑disciplinary staff in diverse educational settings.
  • Proficiency with clinical resuscitation equipment and related guidelines.
  • Understanding of learning and development processes, including competencies and skill assessments.
  • Critical appraisal of research and application to practice.
  • Knowledge of local and national guidelines and monitoring requirements for compliance.
  • Good IT and numeracy skills.
  • Strong teaching skills, including assessment of qualified and unqualified staff.
  • Effective time‑management and prioritisation skills.
  • Research and audit capability.
