The Children's Regional Burns Unit at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, based at Pinderfields Hospital, is a regional centre of excellence and a key part of the Northern Burn Care Network.

Our specialist unit has five inpatient beds and receives referrals from across Yorkshire, the Humber and North Lincolnshire to provide expert care for children with significant burn injuries. Alongside our inpatient service, we run a busy outpatient clinic that provides ongoing wound care for approximately 800 children each year. The department also accepts referrals for paediatric plastic surgery patients, offering a varied and rewarding clinical environment.

Due to internal promotion, we are looking to recruit enthusiastic and compassionate Band 5 Registered Children's Nurses to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop specialist skills in burns and plastic surgery while working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team committed to delivering family‑centred, evidence‑based care.

As part of our supportive and friendly team, you will care for both inpatients and outpatients, helping children and their families throughout their treatment and recovery. We are passionate about delivering the highest standards of care inline with the British Burn Association National Standards for Provision and Outcomes in Adult and Paediatric Burn Care, (2023) and are equally committed to supporting the development of our staff.

  • Assist in the care of children requiring sedation, theatre procedures and dressing changes under anaesthetic.
  • Participate in the management of complex burn injuries, including fluid balance monitoring, nutritional support and rehabilitation.
  • Contribute to long‑term follow‑up care for children recovering from burn injuries, recognising the physical and psychosocial impact of burns.
  • To provide care inline with local, national and regional standards.
  • To liaise with and attend safeguarding meetings.
  • To contribute to the development of the paediatric burn service.
