Responsibilities
- Drive a range of Trust vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic and other legal regulations.
- Operate vehicles including cars, vans and goods vehicles, ensuring protocols and procedures for safe transportation and vehicle maintenance are strictly followed.
- Provide cover in the absence of the Mail Driver.
- Collect mail from departments and offices not in the main hospital building; this includes a daily run to Dewsbury District Hospital.
- Run GP surgery courier services, collecting and delivering specimens and mail.
- Carry out daily scheduled runs to Leeds Hospitals, as well as any ad‑hoc deliveries or collections of patients, staff, etc. within the Yorkshire region.
- Provide transport on an ad‑hoc basis to carry body organs/tissue, live biopsies, and occasional mortuary requests such as transporting infants for autopsy.
- Transport pharmaceuticals and pathology laboratory samples, including controlled drugs and legal specimens that must be signed for upon collection and delivery, across sites.
- Provide general and specific patient transport services.
- Pool duties covering urgent and ad‑hoc requests for transport and movement of larger pieces of equipment or machinery.
- Participate in rostered weekend and Bank Holiday working as required.
- Work primarily at Pinderfields Hospital with additional covering of Pontefract and Dewsbury sites.
- Full clean driving licence with relevant driving experience.
- Driving history demonstrating compliance with current health and safety legislation.
- Experience driving a range of vehicles in a workplace environment.
- Good knowledge of the local area.
- Pleasant disposition and good communication skills.
- Experience working with the public preferred.

WorkingHours
This is a permanent full‑time position, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 08.00 am – 16.00 pm.
